It seems an age since my dream trip to Helsinki, Finland, but in fact, it was only 4 months ago! I am now already planning to conquer the next Nordic country on my list – Norway – in summer 2014. Cards on mushrooms in the middle of nowhere? Oookay then …
Well, this certainly was unexpected! After almost 3 months away from Little British Pea, I decided I would get back to it. The past few months have been a whirlwind for me, with wedding plans (only 49 days to go!), passing my driving test and beginning to drive full-time, plus a million other things. But, I think it’s a good time to come back to the world of blogging. The most difficult part of the wedding planning is over, and now I can just about begin to get excited!
Anyway, I hope you enjoy these very unexpected Jack and Queen cards on wild mushrooms in the middle of a wooded area in Windsor Great Park!!

NO!! Daily Post this is just not fair! This challenge is just rubbing it in … we were due to have our final family outing to the seaside today – enjoying what are, essentially, the last days of summer – but due to car problems … well, we haven’t gone! Instead, we will be going for a long walk to the Savill Garden in Windsor Great Park, followed by a picnic, then the walk home. I can’t complain about that at all, but I guess I’ll just have to raid the archives once again. And besides, what would a post about sea be without the beautiful Caribbean island of Puerto Rico …

Aha – The Great British Bank Holiday Weather strikes again! I had planned to go off to Windsor Great Park as I had the perfect place in mind to get some “focus” pictures. Instead, I can’t leave my house as it’s raining and there are thunderstorms in the forecast. So, a little improvisation, I decided to try and find some focus examples from my bedroom window.
Unfortunately, I don’t have a “good” camera, and the focus is all done automatically. I’ve learned to get along with it, but I long for the day I can turn a dial and focus my … focus exactly where I want! I’m not sure how long exactly I was sat at my window, focusing on leaves with raindrops and so on, but it seems a friendly spider found I was the perfect cornerstone for his web. I did feel quite guilty moving …

I am in fully-fledged autumn/winter mode now! Once I get started, there’s no holding back – I cannot wait for the leaves to turn and fall, the crisp morning air to return, those long nights, Christmas, taking carefree walks in Windsor Great Park …

The Weekly Photo Challenge for this week is one shot, two ways.
In Senaatintori (Senate Square), there is one of the most iconic buildings of Helsinki’s skyline. The Helsingin tuomiokirkko (Helsinki Cathedral) is a magnificent structure, designed by Carl Ludvig Engel. He laid the first cornerstone on 25th June 1830 and the cathedral was finally consecrated 15th February 1852.

At first look, those stairs look easily conquerable right? But, once you get closer, they are very imposing – this second picture was taken from half-way up!

I love this challenge – it’s come at a perfect time! For those of you that have been here before, you will know that I have just come back from 5 days in Helsinki, Finland. Unfortunately, due to a small carry-on bag limit with an 8kg weight limit, I wasn’t able to even take my HP Mini to post daily. I didn’t mind though, and instead I will spread out my pictures (1,483 in total) and stories over the next few months 🙂
So, my choice for this challenge is a picture I took from our hotel window. We stayed in the Hilton hotel at Helsinki-Vantaa airport, and had a view of a couple of the runways. I loved standing at my entirely soundproof window watching as the planes came in, foreshadowing adventures to come for those just visiting, and the excitement of coming home for residents …
