Weekly Photo Challenge: Unfocused

I absolutely love the theme of this week’s challenge – unfocused. It celebrates the fact that nobody’s perfect, and that we all take dodgy photos sometimes 🙂

But alas, like most people, I delete almost every unfocused photo I take. However, like most people, I seem to have a few tucked away in the deepest folders of my laptop! I’m sure if my external hard drive were in working order, I could provide a thousand examples of unfocused! But maybe … it’s a good thing I’m not able to 🙂

I was trying so hard to get in focus and capture this moment before he flew away! We have blue tits making a nest in one of the many bird boxes in our back garden, and this little fellow came right up to my bedroom window, trying to pull a clump of pollen-fluff-stuff from the branch to make his nest! I was so annoyed I didn’t get a focused photo, but couldn’t bring myself to delete it, because you can make out what it’s supposed to be anyway – and so, I kept it! Mighty glad I did 🙂

This photo was one of many that I took during this particular sunset. It wasn’t until I was going through them the next morning that I saw this one had focused on a nearby tree and not the sun and clouds behind it! Although it’s not unfocused completely, it’s not focused on the intended subject – but I really liked how this looked, so, once again, I kept it! 🙂

This photo was taken on the flight from Baltimore to San Juan in January. I’m not sure where we were exactly at this point, but I know we were somewhere in the Bermuda Triangle! As with most pictures taken in low light and without a tripod, this one came out unfocused, but I could not bring myself to trash this – I love the bold and contrasting colours, and how you can just make out the disk of the sun, and it’s last few rays stretching out into the deep blue of space!

I hope you enjoy these “mistakes” as much as I do 🙂
