Weekly Photo Challenge: One

The Weekly Photo Challenge for this week is one.

Well, I think this is the closest challenge I’m going to find that fits posting this picture. This is a statue that I came across when wandering around Helsinki in July – I doubt there’s one like it anywhere else! Think of it what you will …

Weekly Photo Challenge: Grand

The Weekly Photo Challenge for this week is grand.

It seems an age since my dream trip to Helsinki, Finland, but in fact, it was only 4 months ago! I am now already planning to conquer the next Nordic country on my list – Norway – in summer 2014. Exciting! Anyway, my entry for this week is Uspenski Cathedral, a gorgeous and gigantic orthodox cathedral, set on a hill with an amazing view of Helsinki …

Weekly Photo Challenge: Unexpected

The Weekly Photo Challenge for this week is unexpected.

Cards on mushrooms in the middle of nowhere? Oookay then …

Well, this certainly was unexpected! After almost 3 months away from Little British Pea, I decided I would get back to it. The past few months have been a whirlwind for me, with wedding plans (only 49 days to go!), passing my driving test and beginning to drive full-time, plus a million other things. But, I think it’s a good time to come back to the world of blogging. The most difficult part of the wedding planning is over, and now I can just about begin to get excited!

Anyway, I hope you enjoy these very unexpected Jack and Queen cards on wild mushrooms in the middle of a wooded area in Windsor Great Park!!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Sea

The Weekly Photo Challenge for this week is sea.

NO!! Daily Post this is just not fair! This challenge is just rubbing it in … we were due to have our final family outing to the seaside today – enjoying what are, essentially, the last days of summer – but due to car problems … well, we haven’t gone! Instead, we will be going for a long walk to the Savill Garden in Windsor Great Park, followed by a picnic, then the walk home. I can’t complain about that at all, but I guess I’ll just have to raid the archives once again. And besides, what would a post about sea be without the beautiful Caribbean island of Puerto Rico …

Weekly Photo Challenge: Focus

The Weekly Photo Challenge for this week is focus.

Aha – The Great British Bank Holiday Weather strikes again! I had planned to go off to Windsor Great Park as I had the perfect place in mind to get some “focus” pictures. Instead, I can’t leave my house as it’s raining and there are thunderstorms in the forecast. So, a little improvisation, I decided to try and find some focus examples from my bedroom window.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a “good” camera, and the focus is all done automatically. I’ve learned to get along with it, but I long for the day I can turn a dial and focus my … focus exactly where I want! I’m not sure how long exactly I was sat at my window, focusing on leaves with raindrops and so on, but it seems a friendly spider found I was the perfect cornerstone for his web. I did feel quite guilty moving …

Helsinki, Finland #004

I read somewhere before we left for Helsinki that if you want to look like a local, don’t feed the seagulls. We may live inland and don’t get to see many seagulls here, but we figured that was common knowledge everywhere. Well, it seems that the case with the seagulls of Helsinki is don’t eat in front of them at all!

Helsinki, Finland #003

Our last full day in Helsinki was to be our “shopping” day, buying souvenirs and gifts for the family. However, we were a little delayed in our start at Kauppatori, as the sky turned darker and darker – the obvious sign of impending rain. Only minutes after this photo was taken, the heavens opened, and my new and as-yet-unwashed blue jeans dyed my new cream canvas shoes forever with the memory of that shopping morning …
